GENERAL TOURNAMENT POLICIES
PLAYOFF RULES & REGULATIONS
** CAPTAINS / REFEREES / PLAYERS **
RULE # 1 – “SPORTSMANSHIP, TABLE ETIQUETTE, RESPECT THE PLAYER AND THE GAME”
TOURNAMENT / PLAYOFF OFFICIALS Will maintain order and enforce the Rules of the League. The Referee will use his/her prerogatives and discretion and may also accrue to other Tournament or League Officials as appropriate/necessary. League Director – retains the right to evaluate and / or overrule all other Tournament Officials.
REFEREES Decisions made by the REF are final (unless otherwise specified). Referee may solicit additional information if he/she deems necessary. See *Call a Referee. YOU MUST BE AN APPROVED REFEREE, according to the Policies and Practice of TBPL.
GENERAL
NO TIME OUTS - FOLLOW YOUR SEEDED TOURNAMENT CHART/SCHEDULE NO Time outs allowed in Play Offs.
DESIGNATED TEAM SEATING (Where Possible) Seating Areas Designated for Teams should not be in close proximity to either attending Teams’ Match Tables. Please move your Team as necessary. Teams may sit in proximity if agreed by BOTH Captains & League Official.
PLAYER / OPPONENT DESIGNATED AREA (1) Chair @ Table Site is designated spot for Player to stand (unless your view is blocked). Please remain there during your match, unless it is your turn at the table. Players should not contact their Team during their match. Please make sure to have equipment, drink, etc. when you start. If you have to leave the Table for any reason, (e.g. washroom) make sure your opponent is informed, and hears you. Do not just walk away.
SLOW PLAY May be called by either opponent. Referee has the authority to impose rules of fair play and time consideration. Players may be timed/clocked, or subsequently warned.
COACHING May be called as a Foul. No coaching allowed by Team members, referee, friends, etc. This includes verbal and non-verbal action and noises. Please instruct anyone seated with your Team on this Important Rule. See designated playing area.
NO PRACTICING On Tables in the Playing area unless otherwise designated by Tournament Official. Check with Official to see if there are Tables designated for practice.
CALL SHOT It is a good practice to call your shots during Playoffs, although obvious balls & pockets need not be called. Opponent may ask for confirmation on shots that are in doubt / not obvious. *NO SHARKING.
CALL A REFEREE On difficult / close shots. E.g. frozen balls, split hits, close range, hooks, etc. Player / opponent have the right to confirm Referee competency. Unless a League/Tournament Official is present, the Ref must come from the shooters’ Team, unless there is no competency on said Team. An ‘agreed upon’ Referee may be sought.
CONDUCT SHAKE HANDS before and AFTER EACH GAME. Unsportsmanlike Conduct” – Sharking, Distracting, Defraud on a Foul, etc. will be dealt with according to the “Rules for Tournament Play”. A Referee may solicit additional information if he / she deems necessary. A Referee or appointed League Official has the right to “over-rule” “penalize” or “disqualify”; with or without ‘warning’, a player whose conduct is Unsportsmanlike.
SUBSTITUTIONS No Illegal Substitutions. Anyone missing a player in the Playoffs/Finals will score a Zero/Loss. If the player arrives before the beginning of a round, he/she may be added according to the Substitutions Policy**.
SCORING As per League Policy, Divisions, and Tourney Charts.
PRIZES/PAY-OUT
TROPHIES or OTHER Awarded to Top ¼ of the Field.
CAPTAIN'S PRIZES/POINT PAY-OUTS Based on Entries.
TRIPS and POINT PAY-OUT Based on Entries, Fees & Trip Distribution. Thunder Bay Pool League guarantees $8.50 Banked per player per week played, for Banquet, Trips, Prizes, Payout. Trip/Ticket Winners and Cash Divisions are excluded from point payout. TOP POINTS - based on best (16) “ACTUAL” weeks of Regular Play, unless otherwise specified. Division /Splits based on Stats, Standings, Strengths, Votes, League Authority.
TICKETS/TRIPS TRIP WINNERS- Variations may apply to each League Year.... Unable to attend the North American Championships in Las Vegas MUST Concede their Trips. No Selling of Tickets permitted unless otherwise specified in your Division/League. Their Tickets will be awarded in succession to other sanctioned players based on *TOP POINTS. Team Play in Las Vegas. League Operator may assist with the selling of Tickets where permitted. Some Tickets may be sold in succession, depending on League Authority. Each year Circumstances may change/allow the sale of Tickets, or Restrict the Selling of Tickets. Please see your League Operator for your Divisional Choices. FAILURE TO MEET THESE REQUIREMENTS NEGATES TEAM’S ABILITY TO COMPLY WITH THE RULES OF TBPL. TEAM TRIPS WILL BE AWARDED IN SUCCESSION ACCORDING TO TEAM PLAYOFFS.
League Director/Official- retains the right to evaluate and/or oversee all Tournament Rules & Regulations & Divisional Splits.
TRIP WINNERS - ARE TO ASSIST /VOLUNTEER WITH END OF SEASON AWARDS CEREMONY & DINNER.
LAS VEGAS ELIGIBILITY
MIXED - TEAM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS HAVE CHANGED !!!
Team Rosters - Championships- VEGAS(ACS) & CANADIAN NATIONALS(CCS-Our League). All Players must be from the same League. The rest varies:
CCS...Mens Teams.........All..............5 Players - Can be from any Team. CCS...Womens Teams...All..............4 Players - Can be from any Team.
ACS...Mens Teams.........Masters.....5 Players - Can be from any Team ACS...Mens Teams.........All Others..5 Players - 3 originals plus 2 from any other Team ACS...Womens Teams....Masters.....5 Players - Can be from any Team ACS...Womens Teams....All Others..5 Players - 3 originals plus 2 from any other Team
2 DIVISIONS - "Open & Standard" - Mens/Mixed - 5 player Teams. Women's - 4 player Teams. Open - (1) Master Player Allowed. Standard - No Masters Allowed.
BOTH OPEN & STANDARD DIVISIONS - Play for Cash & Prizes. Both Divisions Automatically entered into 'Second Chance' CASH Tourneys where applicable, with FREE Entrance Paid. Other Restrictions apply as to the minimum number of Matches played and the Player Rankings of Team Members depending on the Division that the Team is entered into.
